How to Handle a Traffic Stop - At some point you may be pulled over by a police officer. While those flashing lights in your mirror seem scary, you can help make the experience less stressful for you and the officer.

Don't Walk on the Tracks - Operation Lifesaver, a safety organization in Virginia, speaks out about advertising and other images that show people walking and driving on railroad tracks. Check out their news release.

More Americans are Buckling Up - and that's a good thing! The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration offers the latest figures on seat belt usage. (This is a pdf file that may take some time to download on a slow link.)

Advice On Using 15-Passenger Vans - A recent series of high-profile crashes has raised interest in the safety of 15-passenger vans. These vehicles are often used for transportation by schools, clubs, and other organizations, and are often driven by untrained or inexperienced drivers. NHTSA has provided some useful information on how to use 15-passenger vans safely.

Grab a Free Copy of the Foundation's latest brochure, "Blinded by the Light". This colorful publication illuminates the problem of headlight glare and lists effective tips to minimize its effect on the driver.

New Spanish Translation Helps Protect "Children in Traffic" - One of the AAA Foundation's best-selling videos has long been "Children in Traffic," which describes how children react to motor vehicles and why they behave very differently from adults. A new version is now available in Spanish and makes this valuable information more widely available.

Service Response Card - If you order something from the AAA Foundation these days, you'll receive an extra in your package - a response card that asks about your satisfaction. We're trying to improve our ordering process and assess how our customers feel about their orders. So when you open your order, please fill out and return our survey. If you prefer, you can let us know online.

Research Plans for 2003 - Research and education are the cornerstones of the Foundation. A newly implemented process for research project selection has resulted in some very exciting submissions.

Web Site News Stories - Keep up with the latest in traffic safety news.

Glow in the Dark for Safety! - Winter brings short days and dark nights, which mean greater danger for pedestrians and cyclists. A walker or biker wearing dark clothing may be nearly invisible to drivers just a few feet away. Help drivers see you by wearing specially made retro-reflective clothing and accessories. These items are coated with tiny glass beads that reflect a car's headlights back at the driver so you can be easily visible from a longer distance. The AAA Foundation website offers a wide variety of shine-in-the-dark items that let oncoming drivers see you from three times as far as with ordinary clothing. You can even get a reflective safety collar for your dog! Plus, reflective safety gear makes a great present for walkers, runners, and cyclists.
