FDA Launches Campaign to Educate Drivers About Medicinal Side Effects… The U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research recently launched an initiative to inform consumers on the importance of reading the medicine label before operating a motor vehicle or heavy machinery. Many medicines can change a person's ability to drive safely. The FDA's print public service announcements, linked below, are available free-of-charge to reprint for educational purposes: http://www.fda.gov/cder/consumerinfo/lowDriving.pdf http://www.fda.gov/cder/consumerinfo/drivingCheckLow.pdf The AAA Foundation offers a free brochure on drowsy driving entitled “Wake Up!” Available on-line, “Wake Up!” explains how to stay alert while driving and when to get off the road along with dispelling common myths about driving tired, such as the perception that you are able to predict when you will fall asleep. The brochure also contains checklists of danger signals for drowsy drivers and symptoms of sleep disorders. |
