National Spanish-language Pedestrian Safety Brochure Under Development

In collaboration with NHTSA, the AAA Foundation is adapting a local Spanish-language brochure on pedestrian safety for use by a nationwide audience. The national brochure will be available at the end of this month on the AAA Foundation website.

The original local-level brochure that is being adapted was developed as part of a research project sponsored by the AAA Foundation in collaboration with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the FIA Foundation for the Automobile and Society. The Education Development Center of Massachusetts was commissioned to develop guidelines for creating linguistically and culturally appropriate Spanish-language traffic safety materials.

Focusing on pedestrian safety for Latinos in a specific community in Western Massachusetts, the local brochure is available for viewing on-line (PDF). Please note that because this material contains information specific to Western Massachusetts, it is not intended for national distribution.
