AAA Foundation Research Director Appointed to Safe Routes Task Force

Scott Osberg, Director of Research at the AAA Foundation, was appointed to be a member of the Safe Routes to School Task Force. Safe Routes to School (SRTS), established in 2005 as part of the federal transportation re-authorization legislation, is a multi-year program which aims to enhance safety and reduce congestion, pollution, and childhood obesity by providing safe routes for children to walk or bike to school. According to Osberg, “fellow committee members recognized the long history of AAA and the AAA Foundation with School Safety Patrol and other pedestrian safety activities.”  SRTS is a pet project of the new Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, James Oberstar.
