Use of Advanced In-Vehicle Technology by Younger and Older Drivers
In September 2008, the AAA Foundation released the results of a study in which drivers were survey about the knowledge and experience with four different vehicle technologies: high intensity discharge (HID) headlamps, backing aids and rearview cameras, navigation systems, and adaptive cruise control. The most significant overall finding that was drawn from the study is that many people don’t understand the capabilities and limitations of these technologies which can make them dangerous to users. The study should serve to educate all drivers that over-reliance or misuse of these technologies can lead to poor driver behavior and dangerous decision making.
