The good news is that Americans are living longer and are staying
healthy longer. The bad news is that older drivers tend to be more
fragile and thus are more likely to be injured or killed if they have
a crash. And the older population is growing; in 2030 there are expected
to be more than 70 million people over 65.
I'm proud of the AAA Foundation's ongoing commitment to helping
older citizens stay mobile safely, and I'm excited about the programs
we're developing to promote transportation for this vulnerable group.
For more than a year we've been working with the Beverly Foundation
of Pasadena, California, to catalog and describe local organizations
that provide transportation for non-driving older citizens.

The Beverly Foundation has been partnering with us to expand our senior
driver web site that contains a catalogue of senior transportation
programs. We're also working together to develop and improve PASRide,
a low-cost, low-investment senior transportation demonstration program
in Pasadena, CA.
But we think it's most important that we help older drivers continue
to drive safely. That's why we started Seniordrivers.org
originally, and why we are committed to providing more tips and
information on driver-related issues on it.
Very truly yours,
J. Peter Kissinger
