Aging & Mobility Clearinghouse In conjunction with AAA, the Foundation is developing a a web-based, information clearinghouse on senior mobility and safety. Thus far, the site only contains material on "research related issues" but additional content on other issues will be added periodically. There will also be regular roundtable meetings on the safety and mobility of older adults, held in the Washington, D.C. area. "We're just getting started on this exciting project," says Dr. Bella Dinh-Zarr, Director of Traffic Safety Policy for AAA. "The clearinghouse is a kind of electronic workgroup so we can find out what everybody is doing and not duplicate." The goal is to have representatives from a number of fields. "It's a critical issue facing the country and we want to build good networks and policies that will help older Americans stay mobile. We have researchers, practitioners, the transportation community, the aging community, and medical people. We also want to include non-driving elements, such as supplemental transportation." Associated with the clearinghouse is a private listserv which serves as a medium for keeping the various groups of interested parties apprised of the latest developments. Individuals with a background in aging and mobility matters may petition to join the listserv Simply follow the instructions to subscribe. The clearinghouse site is at http://www.seniordrivers.org/clearinghouse. For more information about the meetings, contact Dr. Bella Dinh-Zarr at dinh-zarr@national.aaa.com.
