Driver-ZED for Teens Update is Underway

Driver-ZED is the Foundation's flagship interactive driver training software product for teens ( http://www.driverzed.org ). Originally produced in 1997, the program has held up wonderfully over the years, but it is finally showing signs of age. A technical update to the program is in progress and should be completed by year's end. This particular update will allow users to install the program seamlessly to the newer Microsoft Windows operating systems such as Windows XP Home and Professional. Currently, a patch must be downloaded from a remote website for installation.

Included in the update is a user-enabled choice to enlarge the video area to full screen size instead of using it in a small 640 x 480 window. Also, a "skip intro" feature has been added to preclude navigating the somewhat lengthy introductory scenes, which do not need to be viewed upon subsequent use of the program. Pricing will remain at $19.95 for individual copies.

Once the technical update is finished, the Foundation will proceed with a major upgrade, which will include new content, graphics, tips, and other exciting enhancements. Completion of this phase is tentatively scheduled for Spring of 2004.
