E-Newsletter, Issue 7

I'm pleased to report that the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety's Research and Development Advisory Committee recently met and selected our 2004 research agenda. Seven projects in all were selected, a record number of new projects in a funding cycle for the Foundation! Covering a wide range of topics, these projects address issues such as child passenger safety, graduated driver licensing, drunk driving, road and intersection safety, senior drivers, and mobility. Details about each project will be forthcoming as contracts are signed.

I would like to thank all of those who submitted proposals. The R&D Committee noted that the range and quality of proposals considered was so high they had a most difficult time approving only seven. And, I'd like to thank all the experts who helped us in the selection process.

I speak on behalf of the Foundation staff when I convey our excitement about the new slate of projects, and we look forward to sharing information with each of you as they progress.

Very truly yours,

J. Peter Kissinger
President and CEO
